Audio Volume Adjuster
Adjust audio volume from 10% to 300% (0.1x to 3x). Amplify quiet recordings or reduce volume of loud audio files. Uses FFmpeg's volume filter for precise control.
What is it used for?
- Amplifying quiet voice recordings
- Reducing volume of overly loud audio
- Matching volume levels across multiple audio files
- Boosting microphone recordings that were too quiet
Step-by-Step Guide
- Upload your audio file
- Adjust the volume slider (0.1x to 3.0x)
- Click 'Convert to .MP3'
- Preview the adjusted audio
- Download the result
How it works
Upload an audio file, adjust the volume slider, and click Convert. FFmpeg's volume filter multiplies the audio samples by your chosen factor. Values above 1.0 increase volume, below 1.0 decrease it.
Tips & Best Practices
- For quiet recordings, try 1.5x-2x boost first
- Values above 2x may introduce clipping on loud passages
- For consistent loudness, use Audio Normalize instead
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I boost volume beyond 300%?
Not with this tool. Extreme amplification introduces distortion and clipping. For very quiet recordings, consider normalizing instead.
Will increasing volume cause clipping?
Possibly. If the original audio has loud peaks, boosting volume can cause clipping (distortion). Use the audio normalize tool instead for intelligent level adjustment.
Privacy & Security
This tool uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly (WASM). The WASM binary (~25MB) is downloaded from a CDN on first use and cached by your browser. All file processing happens locally on your device - your files are never uploaded to any server. This makes it safe for sensitive, private, or confidential media files. Large files may take longer to process depending on your device's CPU and available memory.
